2012 Lost Sierra Endurance Run
September 29, 2012
Graeagle, CA
The Story:
Thanks to all you friendly runners out there on the racecourse! I was the guy lurking in the bushes at a couple spots while you all blasted past. My name is Eliot Drake, and if you're so inclined, drop by my blog to see what else I do.
I've always hated race photos. Nothing pisses me off more than turning myself inside out on a racecourse to find out that Brightroom wants $50 for a low-res digital copy of me that's out of focus. I'm friends with the race organizers, and I wanted to help them spread the word about the first edition of this awesome race by donating my time behind the camera. Being a racer myself, I decided that I'd like to make some proper photos of all of you in the interest of giving you something awesome to remember the day with. As such, there's no extortion happening here.
Ordering:
First off, I'm not a frequent event photographer, so I'm not really set up to do this. Furthermore, since any sales are designed to benefit the race and not me, I'm REALLY not set up to do this! I would prefer to deliver digital files, but if you want a print, I'll work with you.
IMPORTANT! Your bib numbers are not all visible, nor do I have a database of your names and numbers. All these photos are, however, in chronological order. Thus, please browse through, find your photo(s), and in the lower left corner of the preview box, you'll see a filename that looks like _ED_XXXX; when you contact me, send me the filename(s) you're interested in, and we'll go from there.
Digital:
I've got the photos edited and prepared to cram your inbox. Instead of lining my pockets, I'd like to ask you to donate a few dollars to the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship program; they're the primary beneficiaries of your race entry fee, and their sweet logo is on your pint glasses. Continuing to help their mission helps all of us enjoy the outdoors, and that's awesome.
I would suggest that you donate $5 per photo that I send to you. Thus, 22k racers, that'll be $5, and 50k racers, that'll be $5 if you only want one or $10 if you want both. However, those are SUGGESTED DONATIONS. That works both ways. If you write me and convince me that either you can't afford it or that my work simply isn't that good, I'll send them to you for free. If you'd like to donate more to a good cause, that's even better.
Here's where you'll have to trust me. You're going to have to Paypal me the $, and I will donate 100% of it, EVERY PENNY, to SBTS. As I said, I'm friends with the race organizers, and they know where to find me, so that's your enforcement guarantee.
I will send you full-resolution, fully-edited, and non-watermarked .jpg files (the watermarks only appear in the preview here). Make sure you give me an email address that will accept a 10MB+ attachment...
I will grant you license to store, distribute, post, or print your photos for non-commercial use. Facebook, Twitter, email to friends, post on your blog, print them, whatever. It's cool. Just don't do it for commercial gain.
Send me an email at 1L1T.contact (at) gmail dot com and we can sort out payment and delivery.
Prints:
Same deal as digital, except that you're going to have to pay me for the prints, shipping, and shipping materials. I'd also like to ask you for a few bucks for my time. I get my prints made by Miller's Lab, a top-notch print lab in the Midwest. This ain't Walmart, folks. I'll offer 4x6, 6x9, and 8x12 prints, with pricing as follows:
4x6: $14 for one, $21 for two; includes lab print(s) at my cost (~$2), USPS shipping in photo mailer (~$2), $5 per photo to Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, and $5 for my time.
6x9: $15 for one, $23 for two; includes lab print(s) at my cost (~$3), USPS shipping in photo mailer (~$2), $5 per photo to Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, and $5 for my time.
8x12: $16 for one, $25 for two; includes lab print(s) at my cost (~$4), USPS shipping in photo mailer (~$2), $5 per photo to Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, and $5 for my time.
To reduce logistics on my end, I'll make one print order on November 1, and will receive and reship all the prints within a reasonable window (10 days) to everyone.
As with the digital option, send me an email at 1L1T.contact (at) gmail dot com and we can sort out payment and delivery.
